Strategy:

-Boss of the Catacombs

-gives you the Rite of Kindling when defeated. This allows you to kindle bonfires more than once, so you can carry either 15 or 20 total estus flasks.

-Can be dangerous to early players or tanks as his fire attacks go through shields. Better to be light for this fight so that you can dodge his abilities. Otherwise if you've got high poise and a powerful weapon its possible to kill him very quickly.

-A lot of guides say this guy is the easiest boss in the game, but he can be overwhelming if you play cautiously and are unaware of his attacks. He only has a few, so knowing his game allows you to better exploit him.

-Basically he has only three attacks; a fireball, a flamethrower and a teleport. When he teleports away, he'll make copies of himself, he makes more at a time as his health lowers. The clones only shoot fireballs and cannot perform a flamethrower attack. Also, you'll remain locked on to the real pinwheel, so the battle is less about finding the real one and more about keeping yourself from getting overwhelmed.

-I find that focusing on just killing Pinwheel is the best strategy, taking out a few clones along the way if they're easy prey. You won't be able to kill all of them as he'll just keep spawning more, so just try and get your hits in.

-It's possible to take this guy on relatively early in the game, as the catacombs are open from the start and can be accessed from the firelink shrine, so if you really want that rite of kindling you can get it. You're blocked from any further progress after him, however, until you get the lordvessel in Anor Londo.

-Paladin Leeroy can be summoned for help, his summon sign is down a ledge nearby and isn't immediately obvious.

Attacks:

-Fireball: Pinwheel and his clones fire a small fireball. He can also summon a larger fireball that's much the same but takes longer to charge up.

-Close range combustion: This attack is bad, keep away from it. He spins in place and fire appears on his arms.

-Flamethrower: Fairly delayed, but its very damaging. Don't attempt to block it, just dodge or keep away from it.

Clone: He'll summon a clone of himself, sometimes more. The clone can basically perform any action pinwheel can, so watch out!
