Daytona USA - Sega Saturn - Opening & Arcade race on Three Seven Speedway [4K 60fps]
Full race playthrough / longplay on Three Seven Speedway coming 1st, a quick video of the NTSC/J Sega Saturn version of Daytona USA. As we plan on using the footage in another video, but as there's are few high quality unemulated gameplay videos we decide to release this footage as a straight video as well.
While the original Saturn version is the closest port to the arcade, outside of the 2011 arcade release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In the rush to release this port the game ended up rather unpolished and was given a raw deal by most reviewers, when compared to Ridge Racer on PlayStation. Huge borders and a 3D frame rate of just 20fps, meant the port wasn't as good as it should have been. Oddly enough the rest of the game does run at 60fps including the menus and name entry screen. This wasn't helped in Europe either by a dire PAL version that incorrectly adjusted the timer clock and controls, making the port even worse. That said this version still has a lot of fans and was closer to the arcade than the later Saturn port of Daytona USA Circuit Edition in may ways.
Also known as: デイトナ USA (Japan) Sega Racing Classic
Release: 1995
Developer: SEGA AM2 / セガエイエムツー
Publisher: SEGA / セガ
Format: Sega Saturn (SS) / セガサターン
Daytona USA the arcade game is also available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 there was also a Japanese only PC Windows release in 1996, but this is unlikely to work on modern systems without using mods and other programs. There are many other releases of Daytona USA as well with extra stages and other feature such as Daytona USA 2001 and Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition, but these aren't direct ports of the game.
