Dead Space Part 17: Mind the Spikes of Doom and Gloom
0So, we are continuing to clear this floor of all the small creatures that are keeping most of this deck in lockdown (the small little bastard that are spreading some chemicals throughout the air) and, along the way, we get on of the first quick time events. There are a few times throughout the game in which we have to do a quick time event (I think we had one creature jump onto us and try to rip off our face before) but this particular event doesn’t require your typical “Press X Button”. Instead, we get treated to this nice little cutscene and, during the scene, we have to try and shoot something at a very odd angle (I don’t really want to spoil it but, without giving that much away, I wouldn’t be able to talk about it). I do quite like this idea of a quick time event being an actual event instead of “Hit a Button really fast” (not to say that those aren’t in the game; I’ve already mention one time that we’ve encountered that very thing). It adds a great deal of suspense and makes the player actually panic; I think if they had simply said “Hit this button to stop this” than I think that whole moment wouldn’t be as cool. After this little event, we then continue on our way and find ourselves in a very confusing room that requires us to use the Zero-Gravity Wall jumping to move around and, for the most part, I get kind of lost on my way back.
