(English below) Gameplay de los 3 primeros niveles de Descent II, el shooter en primera persona desarrollado por Parallax Software y lanzado en 1996 para MS-DOS.

Tenía curiosidad por probar esta versión de 3DFX y ver si funciona en DOSBox Pure de RetroArch, pues es la versión de DOSBox que he encontrado que mejor emula la API de estas tarjetas gráficas, para las cuales salieron soporte para algunos juegos de MS-DOS, como es el caso de este.

Parece que la emulación es bastante correcta, no he notado fallos. Si bien, el juego no supone mucha diferencia visualmente respecto al a jugarlo en modo original por software salvo el filtrado de texturas, y quizás la iluminación algo mejor. Recomiendo bajar los ciclos a 77000 (Pentium 100 Mhz), pues si no el juego va demasiado acelerado.

Lo juego únicamente con teclado, pues por alguna razón la sensibilidad del ratón es demasiado baja (incluso al 500% en las opciones de DOSBox Pure). Dificultad por defecto "rookie", a este juego no jugué demasiado en su época, y en mayores dificultades es realmente difícil, sobre todo jugando solo con teclado.

Actualmente para jugar a este juego recomiendo el port DXX-Rebirth.

Gameplay of the first 3 levels of Descent II, the first person shooter developed by Parallax Software and released in 1996 for MS-DOS.

I was curious to test this version of 3DFX and see if it works in DOSBox Pure from RetroArch, because it is the version of DOSBox that I have found that best emulates the API of these graphics cards, for which support was released for some MS-DOS games, as is the case of this one.

It seems that the emulation is quite correct, I haven't noticed any bugs. However, the game does not make much difference visually compared to playing it in original software mode except for the texture filtering, and perhaps the lighting is a little better. I recommend lowering the cycles to 77000 (Pentium 100 Mhz), otherwise the game is too accelerated.

I play it only with keyboard, because for some reason the mouse sensitivity is too low (even at 500% in DOSBox Pure options). Default difficulty "rookie", I didn't play this game too much in its time, and in higher difficulties is really difficult, especially playing only with keyboard.

Currently to play this game I recommend the DXX-Rebirth port.
