Brenda Equihua, a first-generation Mexican American designer, makes statement coats from versions of San Marcos cobijas, or blankets. San Marcos cobijas can be found draped over couches and beds in Latinx homes and usually feature religious figures, such as the Virgin Mary. We visited Equihua to learn more about how she makes her coats.
