DFFOO [JP] Cait Sith C90 awakening
20No luck with Relm so only Cait Sith C90. To be honest, it is mostly BRV gain / battery and dmg update, nothing super interesting, but there are some more additional combos you can do with Prishe now.
Attached 2 clips at the end showing some shenanigans with Prishe.
Cait Sith S1 gone from random BRV hit into 1 split dmg HP dump to 3 100% AoE dumps. The LD is also 100% AoE with 4 dumps and now EX is 4 dumps but still split.
He is one of my few non-burst character that get full HA+3, so he does easy 600K+ per target even when Ramza BT is not active.
He gets in-built BRV gain up for himself but not others, so if you are using him with a character that does not have BRV gain up in his/her EX extension II, it is more preferable to get a BRV gain up aura partner, even a normal 20% (30% with C88) would do. Cait Sith himself does have 10% party BRV gain up and additional Gained overflow aura in his C88 though so there are quite some battery / BRV gain related support there. His battery does get better.
Reminder on potential partner and Scaling and other uses:
His LD gimmick scales with mBRV on tiers based on number of buffs on the entire party, number of BRV hits and it is still susceptible to BRV gain (reduction) multipliers. So ideally people with BRV gain up/ high self mBRV/ high mBRV support/a lot of hits are great partners.
Ramza - mutually beneficial because they both scale off number of buffs and they have loads of them. Ramza BT also buff mBRV, so I am finally using him again with Cait Sith here. They are very good partners.
Y'shtola, Quistis - BRV gain and mBRV support. Battery and high gained BRV overflow is also very helpful in 3 target situations.
But since a lot of characters have in-built BRV gain now, this may not be as necessary as the old days when his LD debut.
Prishe - increased BRV hits on CA or BT or both effectively means Cait Sith LD gimmick double or triple proc
See the two end clips with Zack BT finisher (both Prishe LDCA and friend BT), and Cid's LD/EX with BRV gain support from Y'shtola + Prishe LDCA. Cid's EX has 1 BRV hit, but the double BRV hit with double proc with BRV gain up makes it deal full dmg.
Brothers - increasing mBRV
Other uses:
As many C90 make characters have much less trouble hitting cap, currently his LD may not be as helpful as the old days. Obviously no one knows what the next era entails, but currently there are still some odd uses you can get out of it.
1. Helping AoE BRV hit characters on ST boss
For example, using a mostly AoE BRV hit dependent character in a ST fight that frequently cleanses.
A particular one is using Vincent and Lulu in Shelke's LC. You can hit the helicopter so when the add is out and you can't spend all of your HP dmg up CAs on the add, Vincent and Lulu's output is effectively halved. Through Cait Sith though you can use these characters and still deal full dmg despite this limitations.
2. The Forbidden Snow BT breaking HP cap mechanic
Cait Sith may not have a lot of BRV gain, but he does come with a lot of gained BRV overflow for your refund and his LD gimmick does help with keeping your BRV above the threshold. If you so desire to use that trick, he should be a possible option for your 3rd member.
Overall, he was really helpful when his LD debuted and he is now actually giving out battery and AoE dmg.
