DFFOO [JP] Totto Annihilation III - 4-fold Image Slash+ with Ace traps
I lied. There are indeed more Shantotto abuse to be had. Well, it really isn't my fault that there are not more standard 3-target testing grounds with adds not dying left and right or outright immune to dmg during certain phases.
This is an extended concept run from the Dorgann LC. The principle cast (Dorgann + Iris (and launch)) remains unchanged, but this time the main trigger is replaced with Ace and his traps instead of relying on ST follow-ups.
Time references:
00:00 Battle starts and Selphie working
03:42 Laying down traps
05:12 Dorgann FR
07:02 Sub in Iris BT
The core flow looks like this:
0 BRV
-- Cmd attack (break #1) (+ main target (A) Ace trap activates)
-- launch
-- 0 BRV landing (Iris BT 0 mBRV reset after every launch)
-- target B/C recover from break every other turn (Iris BT 0 mBRV reset)
-- target B/C Ace trap activates (break #2 & 3)
-- Dorgann Image Slash+ (break#4 on main target (A))
-- remaining 3 Image Slash+
-- main target 0 BRV (Dorgann BT reset)
(cycle repeats)
For this to work, you must have Ace traps already activated on all targets.
The result would be you are guaranteed to have at least x2 procs every turn, but x4 procs every other turn due to Iris 0 mBRV reset on the other two targets.
Ace traps work because they are tracked individually. Think about how we used to trigger two separate Laguna Desperado explosions in the past. This works just the same. The breaks triggered by each trap are tracked individually, so each counts towards an Image Slash+ proc. This can be replicated pretty much anywhere with 3 targets.
In a similar fashion, Sice would also work with this, it is just that her traps are inheritably Dark based while Dorgann's Image Slash+ are inheritably wind. Since there are no true Wind/Dark enchant atm, they don't really work with each other's FR.
Ace BT
Ace BT phase actually works flawlessly with this strat because you want 4 procs EVERY OTHER turn. With his newly obtained FR, Ace has 3 moves that can actively trigger and refresh all of his traps even inside his BT phase (LD, HP+, FR). Within a 6 turn window, you can always grab the 3 every other turn 0 mBRV reset window and use those 3 moves, no matter which permutation you encounter. Ideally ofc, having those x4 procs at the 2/4/6 BT turns are preferrable having a higher FR%. You can somewhat adjust this with his HP+ before starting a BT phase.
That being said, showing his BT phase is kind of hard in this stage or Spiritus Ifirt, because bosses are simply too squishy to handle it. I tried and he wiped everything before the 5th turn. His BT phase ended with around 420m while having one target left (and thus only x2 procs for the remainder of the time) for an extended period of time.
Also I brute forced this stage without caring about Shantotto's FT. She bans all BRV gain during it. Otherwise this would have ended even earlier with nothing to show. It does not really matter if this were done before she went into FT or not, because she would have had 90% BRV gain reduction anyways. The difference would be very minimal.
In case you are curious, Selphie is in the party instead of Iris simply because there were no Selphie friend at the time of recording. There were no secrets behind this.
Other potential strats:
Obviously if you find a boss with elemental absorptions, you can manipulate your elements to make them unbreak themselves just to inflict more breaks. That would likely net you more than x4 procs, but these opportunities are few and far in between.
Off-turn counters or preemptive strikes can also be employed to get more breaks than usual, but the way they can be utilised is a bit different from the follow-up/trap route. I would probably do more on this topic later.
Rebreakers are obviously another breed that can utilise this. I even tried Vayne yesterday and it was quite fun. Though most rebreakers are a bit dated right now, so there would probably be less exposure for them than the second category or stage manipulation.
C100 is probably happening at anniversary, so we may see a resurgence of these subset of characters soon.
PS
Almost wanted to put the Card Slash theme in from Digimon because of Ace lol.
