DFFOO [JP][New Year Campaign MQ Series 3 Part 2] I just want to use Vayne and Garnet
Happy 2023 there.
A new year but wanted to use some older characters lol.
I thought about a Vivi + Ashe + Minwu run at first because Vivi FR wants BRV/HP+ commands, but then I realised Ashe and Minwu has insane healing thats putting off the "not 100% HP" conditions. So I shelved that idea.
Then I thought using Reks because I have him at BT+0 and he has been a bit underused. Then again on a one target basis, teams building around him kind of takes forever for the enemy to move and the boss heals at certain thresholds, so that idea went out the window as well.
In the end I felt like I really should play with Vayne and probably Garnet again because I haven't used them for quite a bit. It has been around 9-10 months since I put Vayne and Dorgann FR together, so I just went with it at the end.
Mission Quest Series 3 Part 2:
Game series involved: 1/2/9/12 (The requirement does not even say it is FF1 or I, it just says FF lol)

Not going into full details but 3 things to note:
1. Due to FR mechanics, Ultima (XII) becomes immune to all attack types. Basically you want to enchant and imperil with just about anything. There are plenty of characters from 2/9/12 that has party enchant, so that should not be a problem.
2 . Boss puts framed paralysis onto you at certain thresholds (meaning off-turn). The one at 89% being the most obvious. Debuff evasion or a simply Raijin LDCA should do the trick.
3. Ultima has a big heal if you don't push for the next threshold fast enough and let the boss have a turn during that timeframe. Not letting the boss move helps.
The rest is just about DPS. It should not be a problem for modern characters with echoes. If you are using older ones like me, then it requires some set up and be mindful that as a ST boss, Ultima has quite a bit of HP.

The most maintenance I did was to predetermine if Vayne's buffs would fall off and whether he would have consecutive turns. The idea was to keep him from going consecutively, but refreshing his stacks before going into BT phase such that his S2 has unlimited charges.
Garnet's off-turn is pretty handy here. It counts towards Dorgann FR because it is non-elemental (i.e. can be enchanted) and it actually fires even during BT phase. It is not much, but it is still helps. Her BT refills BRV after launches, so no Selphie/Keiss debuff is needed.
Quina can fill the IX spot as well. Though there isn't much need for ensuring max HP dmg, maybe other than Vayne's first BT follow-up. That hit just does not cap if BRV refund or BRV cap isn't strong enough and it has been a persistent thing since his BT debut. Maybe when he gets a BT rework, it will get fixed.
Comparative speaking, Vayne FR gives better % in this set up, but since Dorgann FR gives extra HP dmg cap up to compensate for the lack of said quality in Vayne's BT, and the fact that it is more compatible with Garnet, I chose Dorgann FR in this case.
So ... Vayne FR echo and BT rework when?
Speaking of XII, I would also like to see Gabranth FR echo, because it also unbreaks enemies after hitting them. He should be quite compatible as well.
I like rebreakers too much, so Dorgann is just too much fun. (Noel/Caius FR please?)
