DFFOO [JP][Seymour IW] Lyse LD and C90 with multi-skill use characters: Alphinaud and Quistis
25Snow BT has been too much fun that Lyse has to wait for 3 days before this is up lol. Totally not slacking, Alphinaud.
LD only characters only. They don't have much investment in armor (normal HA for Quistis and Lyse and HA+0 for Alphinaud), so this is pretty much the lowest HP dmg cap and investment possible with only UW+1 for slight boost.
As far as I currently observe, there are largely 3 ways you can play around Lyse.
1. Put her in as a 3rd leg for a clearly established party for a focused purpose as a secondary support
An example fight for this would be with Snow/Auron in Kadaj Lufenia+. Typically those two cannot/can barely eat back to back BRV gain recasts from the two bosses. With the little extra bit of help from Lyse, they can.
Her defensive buff alone may be sufficient for less dramatic attacks. If you are facing bigger hits, it is better if you use her in conjunction to a other defensive buffs.
In this run, Lyse's defensive portion of her LD buff is used in conjunction with Selphie's Wall CA. Wall + Lyse has heavy BRV dmg reduction and Lyse has herself has HP dmg reduction on top of that.
2. Accompany her with 2 characters with EX recharge/turn swap capabilities
Lyse's C85 extension makes it so that her EX hits EXTREMELY hard, even with that poor HP dmg cap investment of mine. At 5 Chakra stacks, her EX+ version has 7 HP dumps, without it has 5. So if you put her besides Rem, Selphie, Ashe or Llyud, she can spam a lot mroe EX attacks and increase her output.
This is slightly achieved in this run by timing Aura buff from Selphie's Calls with Lyse's skill uses.
3. Accompany her with 2 characters that has skill spamming potential
This is designed for her Chakra stack mechanic. It resembles the FFXIV monk mechanic that your party members can give you stacks. She is like Alphinaud and Papalymo in DFFOO that they all enjoy partner characters to act more. Her stack increases when someone uses their skills, but unlike Papalymo's polyglot, she only gain stacks when they use abilities, not transformed BRV+/HP+ or C88s. So it is more specific.
5 stack of Chakra gives her a new BRV+: Purification. It used to give her free skill use and battery and that's it. With her C85, not only it gets more than double the battery, but it also extend buffs by 1 turn and fist of fire by 2 and 2 free skills. Similar to Y'shtola's C85 extension, she has a hidden buff of extra HP dmg up by 40% for 2 turns by using this. So if you are fast you can cycle back to 5 stacks with other characters with skill spamming and pop her EX+ with this hidden 40% buff on if you need it.
Example Skill spamming characters: Vayne, Lightning, Y'shtola (I have been saying FFXIV series synergy is strong lol), Alphinaud S1-EX-whatever skill afterwards etc.
There is also nothing stopping you from combining all 3 points together. Like it is totally viable to put Selphie, Rem and Lyse together for extra protection, EX spam (Rem's turn swap now charges others' EX by 20%) and spam skills at the same time.
This is a more situationally integrated summary of Lyse. She basically gets much smoother to use, more battery and support the party with ATK/mBRV up. With LD, she gives a duality of BRV/HP dmg up and BRV/HP dmg taken reduction with stolen BRV overflow.
Her generic ATK buff alongside Quistis' framed aura actually helps Alphinaud in this run as well. If you stack it with Alphinaud's moonshine buff when he is in obsidian stance, his HP poison dmg should be maximized.
I would say if you are unwilling to build around her dmg, then she is best used as a secondary support/DPS as point 1 described. It should smooth out some deficit of your original party while not sacrificing dmg for a full on 2nd support.
Gonna try a few tickets for Freya. If I don't get her this time, I will get her on Ursula LC. I'd like to get Raijin's LD later though.
