DFFOO [JP][Divine Bahamut] Prishe BT+3, no tanking with Alphinaud's poison
Finally back and found a super beefy boss. Skimmed through Youtube titles and saw a lot of tank uses so I tried not using one. Since Alphinaud used Alisaie, I would use Alphinaud instead lol. Again a beefy boss with Alphinaud's poison ticking means a longer runtime.
The Yuna bit at the end was just for flair and overkill, my previous record with Alphinaud in the field in stead of another BT friend actually took less time and turns, thought this run has a better illustration of how Alphinaud keeps Bahamut harmless and a better looking turn manipulation for a BT friend insertion, so I used this one instead.
Divine Bahamut
Lethal Orb: 3/2/1 at 80-89%/40-59%/1-29%
Stops: When boss takes dmg in 2 consecutive turns from the same character
Unfreezes: When character acts when the orb is frozen
-1: Bahamut takes a turn when orb is not frozen
There are a lot of nuances to this orb freezing condition.
If Bahamut's off-turn textbox appears, it breaks "consecutive" turns.
Alphinaud's poison does not count as him doing dmg.
Laguna's BT explosion seems to count, so if you have a character act before him causing an explosion, then Laguna takes his turn just before Bahamut, the orb would freeze even though technically Laguna did not have consecutive turns but the previous one counted him as the source of dmg.
Similiarly other off-turn follow up attackers would make or break the orb.
It appears that Bahamut's HP is even higher than Safer Sephiroth. So strong ST dmg dealer and some AoE shaving is preferred.
How does Alphinaud neutralizes the threat?
The main threat is not really Bahamut himself but the right crystal. Bahamut really doesn't do many irregular HP attacks outside of its recast and Gigaflare when he is around sub 40%. The danger is the left crystal offering its current BRV to the entire enemy party, particularly the right crystal. The right crystal, if currently at higher than its iBRV, would do a double dump attack. Without a tank it mostly means death.
Alphinaud's shadowflare and ordinary poison ticks on every field turn and before they move, so even if left crystal manages the offer a tiny bit of BRV and even if Bahamut has prevented all enemy party from being broken, Alphinaud's poison would always take those surplus BRV off, causing the right crystal to only do BRV attack.
It is even safer to move them into an the order: B -- C. Since B would gets 10K+ BRV every time it does its BRV attack, it means that the turn order will never change again when an AoE shave happens. They will stay that way forever and C would never be able to battery B before its attack.
If it is not attacking than there is not really a need for using a tank, since Alphinaud can heal through Bahamut's Gigaflare and recast with just energy drain and moonshine carbuncle summon.
Laguna is technically the 3rd wheel here, but his debuff does help with any split dmg on 3 targets and the ATK down makes Bahamut's attack easier for Alphinaud to heal through. He also has the added benefit of keep the orb frozen with Desperado as long as he is the last one before Bahamut.
Though that can be done with many other characters.
Prishe:
My Prishe is at BT+3, HA+1 (no more ingots lol), UW+2.
Got her by pure accidents, was going for Yuna but I threw 10 tickets at the wrong banner and got her. So may as well try her out, I still have Yuna BT on GL.
I would say Prishe is a very solid ST dmg dealer with AoE capabilities. Her gimmick with LD (for herself) and BT (for party) is to give +1 BRV hits after every BRV hit. So a 10 BRV hit attack becomes 20.
LD/BT effect:
While this effect is interesting, I would have to say it is not the most currently relevant effect for procuring more dmg. Bear in mind that, this only affects BRV hits and not additional HP dumps. You can do 40 BRV hits and still have the same amount of actual HP dmg and we are not currently at a time that we need more BRV hits to produce a capped HP dump. May in the near future when a new difficulty drop and we are struggling again, this would become a lot more important with characters say Setzer etc.
Another note is that seemingly she would make low hit characters cap HP dumps, but when you consider pairing Cid's EX with her would ultimately increase his 1 BRV hit to a mere 2, you would realize that it still requires a lot of HP dmg modifiers to make those attacks cap. In that case, using Snow's BT refund actually makes the matter much simpler.
That's not to say her effect has no current relevance though. I think the target user is actually those with decent enough BRV hits but not quite enough to make the HP dump to cap. For example, Laguna's follow-up, interceptor, Noel's follow-up etc. It seems that her effect has better use on the midsection of the BRV hit spectrum more than the lower end.
Overall her BT effect has increased HP dmg cap and BRV cap at the same time, so it is still a very nice package particularly for BRV dmg centric (/only) characters.
