DFFOO [JP] How far have we come in Lufenia+ era on JP? Back to Pandemonium with Y'shtola and Zidane
In the wake of Lufenia+ on GL, just a quick look back at the start of Lufenia+ with my starting characters on JP. I was going to pull up old videos on this for comparison but I guess I was not planning on making videos at the time that there was not one for the initial clear.
Disclaimer:
If you are a GL only player, just don't expect this stage to be this easy when it drops on 30 Sep. Zidane and Y'shtola here are Lv.90 already.
I remember starting on JP on the last day (30 or 31 Jan I think) of Exdeath's block right before Lufenia+ era because I was curious. I had pretty much just Ciaran, Exdeath, Ignis, Rinoa, Y'shtola, Zidane and Beatrix. Thought I pulled through with Y'shtola, Zidane and Beatrix and got to around 75/80 turns and the run was about 20ish minutes. It was really tough without all the handy CAs with DEF down or HP dmg up. I even remember using Ashe for Cait Sith Lufenia+ because of no Agrias for paralysis lol. Growing pains of a new account.
I presume we are approaching the end of Lufenia+ on JP as the last of the LDs come out in Oct, so it is quite interesting to see how much easier it has gone throughout these months.
How different is it?
No use of BT / summon needed, just Y'shtola and Zidane with their C90. They took care of Pandemonium within 9 mins and 30ish turns. Almost half the time and requirement needed compared to the old days.
Obviously part of the ease came from me having updated CAs (still no Kurasame btw compared to GL lol) and knowledge about the fight from killing it over and over before, but the slight LD rework and C85/C88 extensions made the characters who they are currently. They completed the stage like Pandemonium was just a breeze.
They have become such stellar turn stallers that you don't even need Zidane / a 3rd member to fill the turns for active turn / dmg management on the tornado adds anymore. Y'shtola don't even need to BT for the BRV gain aura. Their built-in BRV gain from C85 extension + Y'shtola's C88 provides enough BRV gain for their skills to function on an acceptable level even on 90/90 reduction. Back in the old days, Zidane's S2 probably batteries himself without help for ... 1K BRV? lol
The two of them also got extensive updates on their aura/buffs besides the massive boosts from C85 such that there is enough BRV dmg just with the two of them. My Zidane doesn't even have UW and he has normal HA.
There are little things that may not seem like it is a big deal to current JP meta, but it would have been so much more convenient had we had them back in the day. For example, Zidane has a self BRV refund now, so you can actually open with EX on the first turn without worrying that he would get broken, delayed and cause your entire party to take more dmg by Pandemonium's opening Tornado zone, so you can immediately go right in and delete its turn after that.
With these increased stats and their stalling capabilities, Pandemonium Lufenia+ really does not offer much of a challenge compared to its initial released. The same goes for current Lufenia+ as well, barring those that are more mechanically demanding and complex. It would seem that character updates have quite overcompensated for the reductions and stronger CAs have negated the bosses' high DEF.
For JP, not sure what the next difficulty would entail, but I assume new mechanics and may be slightly higher reduction as well. For GL, it is going to be interesting to see what can foresight for GL players, prior knowledge for players of both versions bring to change the landscape of Lufenia+.
As for me, I suspect I would have a much easier yet quite exciting time on GL with properly equipped CAs and a pre-Lufenia+ roster to mess around with.
Probably no videos on 30 Sep/1 Oct though because I will be away.
