DFFOO [JP][Just for Fun][6 Warrior Quest] Guns of Dissidia
JP has a week of downtime and the 6 warrior quest would disappear soon. I happen to have all 6 of the current gun users that have their LDs, so I wanted to do a gun only play but the normal fights would means you have to find two suitable stages for two different teams, thus this is the perfect place to try it out.
It is quite interesting how the gun users in this game cover so many areas in a team, but I would tell you it is not a fast run. It involves a lot of swapping and since Cater is the only partial magic user here, it means that the "no physical dmg wanted" phase of the Aphmau robot would pretty much have to be waited out. Also no skipping blue aura this time.
This gun team covers basically everything needed, but they need a bit of a boost in some areas. Healing, HP regen, dmg control, buff and debuffs, cleansing and dispelling, dodge and counter. They have it all, even with some blind on top of that.
Key roles:
Laguna: Dmg, debuffer
Sazh: Turn rate, Buffer
Prompto: HP regen, emergency dodge, slight buffer
Cater: Magic dmg, dodge & counter, dmg control with framed freeze
Irvine: Direct heals, debuffer, blind & range resist down
Balthier: Cleanse, dispel, buffer (splash dmg can also be used to semi-bypass physical resist stage, he outdmg cater if the frog robot can take dmg)
CAs:
Basically other than Seymour, the others are either for HP regen, some additional effects or a failsafe heal/dmg control.
Seymour: Debuff and Complete dispel + delay
Cait Sith: HP regen and effect for BT
Eiko, Steiner:
Raijin: 0 dmg failsafe, HP dmg up and direct heal
Zack on Cater: if not a failsafe or direct heal before ending the fight, it could be used for Cater counter bait
Why so much HP regen?
The red aura is extra toxic, so Prompto's HP regen alone is not enough. Only with either an extra regen buff or CA aura can your HP remain at a relative balanced state.
It is also for this reason why there are a lot more swapping then usual. Red HP characters need to be swapped out immediately or they would die. Also sometimes Irvine needs to come in for a direct heal boost when he finished charging up his EX in the background.
Drag on period due to the Aphmau LC Robot:
The 3 instant turn rate into magically vulnerable state until it changed back to physically vulnerable was the main reason why this dragged on for a bit. When it changes its states, it dispels and put on buffs. So bursting early and putting on major debuffs again would be a waste of time and uses. Since only Cater and Balthier were the only two that are capable of somewhat still hurting it, it basically is a wait-it-out period that drags on for a bit.
I would say despite not having ultima weapon for all 6 of them, it turned out quite well. Once the drag on period is over, they burned down the bosses really quickly and finished the fight. It never ceased to amaze me how diversified the gun users' roles are. Hopefully Vincent and King turns out great as well.
