A reference was made in honour of the late Heath Ledger! After the legendary performance from Heath Ledger as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight,’ many were apprehensive to see Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the villain. When winning the SAG award, Phoenix himself said that he only managed to do this because of Heath Ledger, and as a nod to the late actor who died shortly after his role, director Todd Phillips added some references to the iconic performance. One of which was the design on the back of an ambulance that looked strikingly similar to Heath Ledger’s Joker makeup.
