YouTube now lets you "Turn Off Recommendations": Here’s how
YouTube has rolled out an update giving users more control over video recommendations. You can now turn off recommendations by disabling your watch history. Services relying on watch history for suggestions, including your home feed, won't work if watch history is off and minimal prior history exists.
Expect homepage changes: Suggested video feed will vanish, making space for a more prominent search bar and menu. This aims to enhance search, channel viewing, and exploration.
The functionality will gradually reach users, so not all will notice the change immediately.
To delete YouTube watch history:
Log in to your Google-linked YouTube account.
Find "YouTube History," scroll, and "Turn off."
Your YouTube History will be deactivated, providing more control over video recommendations. YouTube actively improves viewing, as seen with the June fan channel policy. Effective August 21, 2023, fan channels must clarify non-affiliation.
