Discworld (PS1) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
591A playthrough of Psygnosis's 1995 graphic adventure for the Sony PlayStation, Discworld.
The game does suggest playing with the PlayStation Mouse, but I am using a gamepad for this playthrough. I do have subtitles enabled, but they don't show in the introduction.
I loved this game to death on PC when it came out! The art style made it look amazing, the writing was without peer (well, probably thanks to it being done by Terry Pratchet, the author of the novels the game is based on), and the humor is always pitch perfect - I can't think of any movie that has had me laughing as often as as deeply as this game does - and somehow, the humor never dulls over the game's considerable length.
The PS1 version is a near-identical port of the PC original, and aside from the sometimes irk-some load times, really couldn't be any more faithful. Bravo to Psygnosis and pulling off such a solid port of a PC game with so few concessions so early in the PS1's life cycle. I guess it's a good show as to why they became a first-party Sony developer.
I've got to warn you guys though - as much as I adore this game, it's brutally hard. It took me years to get through it on my own. It you don't have the cast-iron resolve that it took to love the genre back in its golden age, Discworld will shut you out pretty quickly. It's a commitment.
Lovers of British humor - here's Eric Idle at his best. The voice work is amazing in this game.
