3Hey players, DJay here to kickstart a new walkthrough on the next Sega Dreamcast game, Sonic Adventure 2.
Description of the game:
Sonic Adventure 2 is the sequel to the original Sonic Adventure released by Sega worldwide on the Sega Dreamcast in June 2001 and is the third and final entry to be released for that console. It's updated version, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was released later in December 2001 on the Nintendo GameCube with updated textures and additional multiplayer options, as well as character upgrades. The game was made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sonic The Hedgehog series. It marks the debut of 2 new characters, Shadow The Hedgehog and Rouge The Bat. It received remasters on PC, PS3 and XBOX 360. It's the first mainline installment where Dr. Eggman is playable. Big The Cat makes hidden appearances in both cutscenes (press A at the right time to trigger it) and in most stages. Green Hill makes an appearance as a unlockable stage. Unusual for a Sonic game, it is the first to contain profanity (mostly audible in Knuckles' stage themes and only the first cutscene in the demo version) hence why the GameCube contains a "Lyrics" warning.
Set after the events of the prequel, Dr Eggman discovers a secret weapon from the diary of his deceased grandfather Prof. Gerald Robotnik and infiltrates G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nations) headquarters to revive the weapon with a Chaos Emerald. The weapon itself was supposedly a black and red hedgehog and self-proclaimed "Ultimate Life Form" Shadow, a powerful hedgehog who can easily manipulate powers with ease thanks to the Chaos Emeralds. Shortly after, G.U.N. pursue and capture Sonic due to mistaking him for Shadow. The G.U.N. agent Rouge attempts to steal the Master Emerald from Knuckles and is encountered by Eggman out of nowhere, also plotting to steal it, but shattered into shards by Knuckles, leaving both him and Rouge to pick up the pieces. But the entire conspiracy goes even deeper. Sonic, along with the aid of his pals, must save the world and fast.
Gameplay is much like it's predecessor, but with more focused character-specific gameplay and with 2 stories instead of 7 (the final story is unlockable after completing both of the previous stories.) In Hero story, players take control of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, while in Dark story, they control Shadow, Eggman and Rouge. In Speed stages, Sonic/Shadow must advance towards the goal as quickly as possible. In Shooting stages, Tails/Eggman must make it to the goal within the allotted time while destroying the obstructing enemies that appear in their way. In Hunting stages, Knuckles/Rouge must locate every Emerald shard hidden in the stage to clear the stage whilst avoiding enemies or traps set around the place. Like the other installments, rings serve as your valuable possessions that keep you alive. Taking damage with rings brings your ring count to 0 and taking another hit without any rings in possessions results in losing a life and restarting the stage from the beginning or at a checkpoint.
