Does A Typo Correction Fix The AI In Aliens: Colonial Marines? | Gameplay Comparison
Like something rumbling in John Hurt’s tummy, Aliens: Colonial Marines burst out into the headline last week with an odd twist: an eagle-eyed modder discovered a single typo that appeared to mess up the aliens AI. Can you really fix the AI with one letter change? Find out with our gameplay comparison.
Discovered by JamesDickinson963 at Mod Database, the AI is apparently borked by a typo that misspells ‘tether’ as ‘teather’. As the video explains, this is meant to cause all kinds of upsets. But is this really an Aliens: Colonial Marines AI fix? Does one typo sort out broken AI? Our video tests out the original game and the version with the typo removed to show you the differences. Spoiler alert: they can be hard to see.
What we discovered is that for the best Aliens experience you really need JamesDickinson963’s mod (TemplarGFX’s ACM Overhaul), which speeds up the xenomorphs and gives them a spring in their step. It’s much more impressive than just fixing a typo. It doesn’t fix all the game’s problems, but that would take a miracle, not a mod.
