I guess I can sort of say i've returned from a long hiatus but it's a bit more complicated than that. Sorry to disappoint most of you for the lack of uploads in the latter half of 2024. Most of you probably won't know but I have changed from Macintosh to Windows (finally), meaning that the recording will be slightly janky for the next couple uploads. It's more just me trying to find the perfect balance since recording for this stuff is now much more complicated.
Playing doom has been very complicated the last couple days, mostly because i've been busy but also i've been trying to get used to the newer things. This is technically my third ever speed demo using this computer, along with using a mechanical keyboard (Macs were never suited for those).
Onto the map, this demo is definitely improvable, so you may see another video soon of the same map. What you are watching is my 2nd clear of the map. My first had to be scrapped since it was in the wrong complevel (pea brain moment). This time isn't too bad for the most part though.
The map itself is quite gimmicky, with a lot of time saves being heavily rng related. Skill-wise it's not too challenging so it's quite a nice starting map for people who wanna get into harder wads.
My route was basically taken from Vile, since his route seemed pretty optimal. Whilst doing practice I noticed that there may be a way of getting a quicker time. If I try to minimalise the time rocketing the pit at the start, I could just BFG the enemies later along with the zombiemen once they come out.
Overall, the map was very fun. Pretty claustrophobic but nothing too dangerous when it comes to the combat. I like it!
