Many of you out there can't stop asking, "When's the big showdown in Dragon Ball DAIMA gonna happen in this crazy timeline?" Well, let's get straight to the good stuff!

So, after watching that hype trailer and reading what the legendary Akira Toriyama had to say, we've got a solid hunch about where Dragon Ball DAIMA fits in the grand Dragon Ball saga. The fresh, mysterious baddie, who's behind turning our heroes into pint-sized warriors, is caught on camera checking out Goku's epic battle with Majin Buu. and That's your first clue - this anime's rolling right after Dragon Ball Z's mega showdown.

things get a tad tricky when we bring Dragon Ball Super into the mix. The trailer doesn't flash any of the cool characters from Dragon Ball Super, but that doesn't necessarily mean DAIMA's a prequel. Also, did you notice Goku and Vegeta aren't rocking Whis' emblem on their gear in the trailer? And here's another nugget: Shin and Kibito are doing their solo acts, even though they did the whole fusion dance thing during the Majin Buu saga and only uncoupled in Dragon Ball Super. But a lot of people are thinking that this could be part of the de-aging mojo that's at the heart of DAIMA's story.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a good bet that Dragon Ball DAIMA takes place after the Majin Buu beatdown, and it's either just before Dragon Ball Super kicks in or somewhere in its sequel saga. Yet, don't count on any Dragon Ball Super storylines making a cameo here. Judging by what we've seen, DAIMA is gearing up to be one heck of a "side story." Goku and the gang are headed off on an epic adventure in a whole new universe. They're keeping it separate and self-contained, and that's a smart move. It keeps the Dragon Ball timeline from going all tangled up, and lets DAIMA carve its path with a unique vibe, setting it apart from the rest of the Dragon Ball universe.
