In this chapter, Olivia helps Zoë decipher a part of Reza's notebook, revealing a clue that leads to a location called "The Fringe" in Venice, Newport, to which Zoë departs on the same day in hopes of learning something about her ex-boyfriend's disappearance. Making her way past the dilapidation and poverty that now envelop the formerly prosperous Venice, she reaches The Fringe, where she meets our old friend Charlie (from "The Longest Journey"), still continuing to work there in his new capacity of manager. Although the information she receives is vague, Charlie does seem to know something about Reza and even points her in a promising direction - the "Victory Hotel", a new incarnation of the former Border House, where some strange goings-on have been observed recently... unfortunately, the place is locked, and it takes all of Zoë's determination (and quite a bit of help from Olivia on the phone) to get inside. Meanwhile, all the way back in Arcadia, we get to take our first glimpse at April Ryan in a long, long while - and see that a lot of things have changed in the meantime...

[This is a brand new re-recording of one of the earliest playthroughs I made way back when, and "Dreamfall" has been long overdue for a facelift. The new playthrough is enhanced with (unofficial) HD texture mods for both the gameplay and the cutscene videos; features higher resolution and superior encoding; is enhanced with Reshade/SweetFX lighting effects; and features many minor bits of dialog and exposition that have been missed in my previous playthrough.

NOTE: In this and subsequent episodes, the playthrough misses all of the "hacking" mini-games (instead, Zoë just automatically unlocks everything with her phone). This is because the installed HD texture mod, apparently, is incompatible with the mini-games, and in choosing what to preserve for the video playthrough I reasonably went along with the HD textures. If you do really want to see the "hacking" games (which, in general, are more annoying than anything), they are still present in my original, poorer quality playthrough.]
