just started the game, with possibly limited moveset but u can pretty much cancel anything by crouching, & crouching basic can be cancelled by standing up. (03:54 onwards)

aerial combat is weak, u can fly (within reason) ur way to the next screen & beyond by keep aerial attacking, helm breaker has the same dust storm effect with Fidget's projectiles, parry seems to work in midair (timed basic attack), etc. love to test more stuff but as u can tell, i'm busy dying...

played on hardest difficulty not coz of confidence but because i can... choose.

this game is one of those explosive indie titles that get good praises from everyone mainly for the sake of being likeable. in its fairness this game deserves most of the praises, but i somehow still find a lot of issues with it.

dodge is absolutely useless. unless for the absolute last resort, it is generally superseded by aerial dust storm thingy. also why 2 dodges instead of one dodge + directional input? heck why not just use right analogue stick & free up some buttons?

why is parry not a block? why is there not a block feature? why is parry done by holding primary attack? why not just have us time our attack since it worked out the same anyway? why can't i use dust storm to parry? it also seems that secondary attack can't be used to parry, even if timed correctly.

why is upperslash thingy NOT a directional input based attack but the helm breaker is? currently i have no other directional accentuated moves & i don't think i'll get any, coz the game has too much confidence in auto displacing u & ur target, which works only half of the time coz they always come in groups in every direction.

zooming too far is a sin in itself, but the larger problem i have is with the graphics in general. the word "immersion", as i agree with Adam Sessler, is a term that has yet to die. i turned the all options on & ended up feeling isolated from all the colours & excitement.

for a game so patronising to keep the [down + jump] prompt floating in my face it doesn't bloody explain what is the bubbly distortion pop thing is that keep distracting me when i move around.

i lost count on how many times i got blindsighted, & for a 2D game it's pretty pathetic, or perhaps that's just me. the 01:01 part especially has me just guessing where i am.

despite all that, Dust ET is still fun. just seems that opportunities are somewhat wasted.
