Countless livestreams, announcements and Elden Ring gameplay reveals later, E3 2021 is done and dusted. It was a weird one this year, but certainly better than what happened in 2020. Whether it’s the Xbox E3 show, the Square Enix E3 offering, or the Ubisoft E3 livestream, we know it’s tough to keep up with all the news and E3 trailers. So, Colm’s taken it upon himself to give you all the important information in one handy E3 reaction / review / recap video. So, sit back and relax, and watch one man breakdown tens of hours into 18 minutes.

Even if it’s a lot to take in one week, cramming it all into less than seven days is definitely preferred. For some, they might’ve stopped watching E3 2021 on the first day, as Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest revealed some Elden Ring gameplay, as well as an Elden Ring release date. While that was undoubtedly the main event of Keighley’s show, Summer Game Fest 2021 did have a few other noteworthy games, like the Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. If you turned the telly off after Elden Ring, you missed some good stuff at Day Of The Devs: Despelote, Vokabulantis and Loot River are three I highlight here, but it’s worth checking out everything else that appeared at the show.

The Ubisoft E3 2021 livestream, Ubisoft Forward, was more about showing you gameplay of games you already knew about, rather than announcing new stuff. Apart from the Avatar game, Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora, of course. Riders Republic looks like loads of fun, Rainbow Six Quarantine is now called Rainbow Six Extraction, but Rocksmith+ was a bit of a personal favourite.

The Xbox E3 2021 show – well, Xbox and Bethesda E3 show now – was brimming with tons of juicy E3 trailers. Bethesda bookended the show with a Starfield trailer and the announcement of Redfall. In between those two, it was all go as Xbox revealed release dates for the likes of Psychonauts 2, Stalker 2, and Twelve Minutes, and we also got new game reveals, like The Outer Worlds 2, A Plague Tale Requiem and Forza Horizon 5. And, of course, we got a look at Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite multiplayer. A case could be made that Xbox had the best showing at E3. It’d be pretty hard to argue.

The Square Enix E3 2021 showcase could definitely be split up into two: a strong start with the Guardians Of The Galaxy reveal and the Guardians Of The Galaxy gameplay… and then the second half that featured a rough looking Babylon’s Fall and one of the funnier E3 trailers in the Stranger In Paradise Final Fantasy Origin trailer. Yeah… an odd one.

But, this E3 2021 reaction / recap / review (call it whatever you like) also touches on whatever that Gearbox E3 thing was, a little bit of the Nintendo E3 Direct (yeah, I didn’t expect to be talking about that either), and there’s a little mention of Wholesome Direct. If you want more of a granular E3 recap, you should check out all of the links below. It’ll give you everything you’re looking for when it comes to E3 2021.

So, that’s it for 12 months. E3 is over. Now, all we have to do is wait for these games to come out so we can play them all. Thanks very much for watching, and remember: for all of your PC gaming needs, keep it on RockPaperShotgun.com
