We’re nearing E3 season, so it only makes sense that Headlines & Hot Takes dominates this episode. Firstly, we chat about the report that Valve is working on their own Nintendo Switch like handheld called a Steam Pal or SteamPal… honestly, the name is the least of our concerns at this point, as it’s all up in the air at the minute. We also discussed Techland’s recent reintroduction of Dying Light 2: we now know it’s called Dying Light 2 Stay Human, we know it’s out this December, and the rest was basically a reminder of what it is. We did get a shiny new Dying Light 2 gameplay trailer, though, so that was nice to look at. We also have a little conversation about the rumoured collaboration between Square Enix and Team Ninja, Final Fantasy Origin. Final Fantasy Origins could turn out to be nothing, but sometimes there’s no smoke without fire...
As we recorded this a little earlier – this past Monday was a Bank Holiday in the UK – neither of us had loads of time to play brand new games, but we didn’t come to Show and Tell empty handed. Colm played some of that Erica, the FMV game that originally launched on PS4 in 2019. Despite his fondness for the genre, he wasn’t overly impressed. You can hear his thoughts in our Erica review, and you can check out some Erica gameplay too. He also played an autorunner called Aerial Knight’s Never Yield. It’s impressive, as it was a mostly one-man project (check out our Aerial Knight’s Never Yield gameplay), but it didn’t wow Colm overall. Meanwhile, Matthew’s played one of the more beautifully grim point-and-click games out there, Strangeland. Check it out for yourself in his Strangeland gameplay, and have a listen to his thoughts in our Strangeland review.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games RPS awarded with a Bestest Best. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on interviewees, rage-quitting and summer plans.
