Biomutant Is An Unfocused Open World Game | Biomutant Review
Biomutant – a new open-world game from some of the people behind Just Cause – is a long time coming. It’s been on most anticipated lists for the past couple of years; people have been buzzing about the Biomutant game ever since it was announced back in 2017. Sadly, it hasn’t lived up to the hype. When you’re in the groove of combat, and using your Super Wung Fu skills, it feels pretty good… but often a lot of other things just get in the way. Have a look at our Biomutant gameplay and listen to our Biomutant review to hear what we thought of it.

As you can see from our Biomutant gameplay, and as you can hear in our Biomutant review, the combat is fairly decent. Yes, there are a lot of systems at play and it takes a bit of getting used to, but when you’ve decided upon your Biomutant class, weapons, and abilities, it all begins to click. It’s not going to rival some of your favourite action games, like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, but there’s no doubt that Bio mutant is pretty enjoyable when you’re messing up all the furry creatures in this world.
But, Biomutant does have a habit of taking you out of the fun far too often. Biomutant crafting feels fairly inconsequential, as loot is so plentiful and there isn’t much specialness to collecting a new gun part. There are far too many menus, each of which looks similar to the other and thus it gets a bit confusing. And there are three different skill points you collect on your journey. I mean, you can see all this in the Biomutant gameplay in the video, but a lot of the time it’s just a bother.
And as Colm says in this Bio mutant review, it feels like an open-world game from 5 or 6 years ago. The side quests and activities feel way too samey, and your map is littered in icons by the end. Few things feel important; you can see that for yourself in our Bio mutant gameplay.
That’s not to say it doesn’t have its good points. We’ve already mentioned the combat, for example. But, another thing is the world itself. There’s no question that Biomutant is a gorgeous game. Every location you go to, regardless of whether it’s the desert or the forest, every area is postcard-worthy. It’s just a shame other things get in the way.
This isn’t a Biomutant PS5 or Biomutant Xbox review – it’s a Biomutant PC review. Still, regardless of what platform you may want to play this on, you should get a decent idea of whether or not you should pick it up from this video. If you want more Biomutant thoughts, however, you should have a read of our written Biomutant review, which you can check out on Rock Paper Shotgun: The Website (https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/biomutant-review)
