Eclipse Keyple: The Ticketing Open Source Tool for Smart Mobility
This talk will give a brief introduction about Calypso the Open Standard of contactless ticketing in Public transport, founded and managed by transport operators and authorities. Despite its implementation in many big public transport networks (Paris, Lisbon, Venice, Brussels, Montreal, Mexico, Milan, Torino, Lyon, Marseille, Casablanca and many others…) it has never been hacked in 20 years due to its security by design.
It will explain why Calypso choose the way of Open Source to open and and facilitate the use of contactless ticketing for every developers and suppliers for ambedded software in ticketing terminals by launching the Eclipse Keyple Project that proposes a complete open source SDK.
The goal of Eclipse Keyple is to allow developers to easily implement fast and secure off-line contactless transactions (using NFC cards, mobile phones, …) based on the Calypso standard or others technologies.
More specifically, Eclipse Keyple is a set of open source libraries in Java and C++, designed on the same mutual Object-Oriented Model compatible with any terminal architecture: mobile, embedded or server and Interoperable with any smart card reader solution: standard or proprietary, local or remote.
It will facilitate the access to secure contactless ticketing for all combination of transport including the new mobility services (bike sharing, car sharing…) in order to offer the most seamless travel experience to the citizens.
