Currently one of the most hyped-up doujin titles out right now, Elemental Battle Academy is certainly ambitious and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't show a whole lot of potential (not too surprising since it's developed by the same folks who made Magical Battle Arena), although I think "Loli Wars" would've been a better name.

In the game, you play with little girls with silly names who pick up weapons and use magic to determine who's the best. There is a more "defined" story, but the game is still getting additions, so I wouldn't say everything is definite. Visually, the game is a bit overkill in the sense that some weapons are two or three times the size of your characters (effectively going through the floor and other obstacles) and the game uses generous particle effects to obscure the action. The camera is a bit frustrating to use, and the battle mechanics need some tweaking. Arenas are a good size and I like the various power-ups, elemental spirit system, and level additions like Gun Turrets, Giant Machines, etc. The A.I. isn't too challenging, but the game can present some imposing additions to counteract this such as really overpowered characters (depends on settings).

Everything just needs to be tweaked. It's refreshing to see a game like this (even if the characters annoy the hell out of some people) amidst all the Touhou titles getting pumped out. The game has the potential to be one of the great doujin titles. This is a video showing some dressing, plot, and fighting. Enjoy.
