Super Smash Bros. Game Sample - N64
0A new N64 addition to the channel... SUPER SMASH BROS.!!! What can be said about this classic that hasn't been said already? This is one of my favorite games of all time. While it's been improved on in the form of Melee and Brawl, I've invested more hours on the original Smash Bros. than either sequel and any remote SB knock-offs combined. This was one of the N64 games where me, my brother, and friends would lose countless hours of sleep over (well, this and Golden eye)... looking back on it, it seems a little silly, but this game still reeks of good times.
While the game banks on its fan service no doubt, its appeal goes beyond recognizable characters. It's intuitive, easy-to-use engine and rampant free-for-all spirit (not to mention being one of the very few N64 games to run at 60FPS), hazards, and various match settings have turned even some of my anti-gaming peers into hot-blooded believers begging for one more match. It's not really deep and it's not really amazing on a technical level, but its fun as hell; just don't expect too much from the single player experience.
It's been YEARS since I've played the original Smash and I've gotten rusty, but it deserved at least one video, so I pulled it out for old times sake. Enjoy.
