Description:
Elevator Action Returns was the sequel to Elevator Action which was released in 1983. The game play has changed a little from the original, you can shoot up. You also have a greater array of weapons, like the sub machine gun, and rocket launcher. You have many different types of enemies in the sequel, like enemies with jet packs, soldiers armed with riot shields, secret agent men, and thugs. The game play is very straight forward, and the game requires only 2 buttons to play like the original.
The game scenery changed a lot from a repetitive a vertical building setting to a horizontal movements on the screen as well. You also see a have a 1990s theme in the game as well while the original Elevator Action had a 1970s feel to it. You were playing secret agent man armed with a snub nosed revolver, whose mission is to get top secret documents. In Elevator Action Returns, you play a super hero who is trying to save the world from the evil New Order which you are trying to stop in this game. You are fighting terrorists and this is a compete 180 from what original game was about.
The one thing I like about this game was the graphics, it gives the game a very modern feel to it. If they made a game like this with updated 2014 graphics, it would sell well for $5.00. For a 2d side scrolling game, it represents the pinnacle of achievement for games of this type. The controls are very responsive, and it is generally a very good 2d action game.
The video recorder I used to record this game gave me poor results, because the video wasn't synced with the sound, and I must apologize for that.
I've never played this game in the arcades back in the 1990s, nor did I ever know that this game even existed. I had this game in my Mame Roms collection, but I didn't know about it for years! I recently found out about it when I looked up Elevator Action, and it came up by accident.
If you want to play this game, it is available on coolrom dot com, and you can try a piece of gaming history. I am a historian, and I love old things.
