This video will show you how to take off, land, and give you a basic handling characteristics of the Kyushu J7W Shinden.

The Shinden is a little bit different from the other conventional aircraft I flew in War Thunder. The take off procedure is a little bit different. Unlike most conventional aircraft, you have to throttle up gradually get it to certain speed and throttle up to the maximum. Most other aircraft I flew allow you to center the aircraft with the rudder and throttle up.

The landing was much more difficult with this aircraft, because landing speed was much higher than most conventional WW II aircraft. You can't get the speed below 250 kph, because that speed doesn't give you enough lift to keep the airplane off the ground. At the same time, you need touch down at 230 kph or less.

The handling characteristics was not that great, and it wasn't a very heavy fighter weighing at 11,663 lbs. A Ki-84 frank had a operational weight of 9,194 lbs, yet it can do a combat turn in 19 seconds and having a top speed of 450 mph or 720 kph. The Ta-152 has a top speed of 759 kilometers/hr or 471 mph, and it can do a combat turn in 21 seconds. The Ta-152 combat load is about 11,500 lbs, and it is a much better aircraft than this Shinden. This thing can do a combat turn in 30 seconds that is as good as a Me-410 or a Bf-110 which isn't that good. However, it is much faster than a Me-410 having a top speed of 750 kph.

The only thing I like about the J7W Shinden is its 4 30mm cannons, and those 4 30mm cannons can shred bombers. The climb rate on this aircraft is not impressive, the Bf-109G-6 has a much better rate of climb than this thing. If you get into a dog fight with this aircraft, you will not last very long. The best way to employ this aircraft is as an energy fighter by the altitude advantage and diving on your enemies. It's heavy weight will enable you to really dive, and you can pull out a dive easily. Use the potential energy(altitude) and convert it to kinetic energy then convert it back to altitude(potential energy).

The Kyushu J7W Shinden was meant to be an interceptor, it was designed to take down the B-29s which were devastating Japan near the end of World War 2. This aircraft was never meant to be agile, and that is the difference between interceptors and fighters.
For example, a Mig 25 or a Mig 31 are fast aircraft, but their handling characteristics are poorer than Mig 29s and Su-27s.
