Overview:

Apparently our hero just got done celebrating a victorious battle presumably from the first game. He now faces a new wave of terror and bosses which he must overcome. Epic Boss Fighter 2 is a continuation of the first game where you the player must conquer a total of 20 bosses to become really epic. While most games have you trek a level, the game already pits you against a boss in rapid succession so can you handle them?

Aesthetics:

The game starts off with a nice little cinematic feature. The cinematic is hand drawn portraying a flow of images telling you of the story. The art for the opening is good but the actual in game art is different. While the art in game is still hand drawn, they don’t look like the opening but that’s understandable. The in game art looks good as well and they have that cartoony look. One good thing is that the boss designs are also looking good and the terrain changes for each level which is always a plus. The music itself is really good as it is something that makes you feel the adrenaline rush. It’s fast and pumping but it repeats for each level but it’s really good.

Gameplay:

Epic Boss Fighter 2 is a simple game in terms of the mechanics. It is an overhead shooter where you control your character with either the use of the keyboard or the mouse. You should choose the mouse because it’s easier and more convenient. Just watch out for the cursor though because if it goes off screen, you’ll lose control of your character which can be annoying. When it comes to the actual game, your character will automatically be firing so all you need to do now is to avoid the boss’ attacks as well as landing your own attacks onto the boss. When defeating a boss you move onto the next one and so one. If you do die, you restart from the boss that is 2 levels before the boss that you died from. This is to give you some inspiration to do better so that you won’t have to do the levels over and over again. Once you defeat all 20 bosses, you beat the game but you can always play again and you can now unlock several difficulty settings. Now outside of battle you have the option of buying items for your accessories, suit, droids and consumables. The suit allows you to change your attire giving you stats, abilities and a change in appearance. The accessories give you stat boosts but not a change of appearance and you can equip 8 of them when unlocked. The droids were invulnerable allies that helped you in the levels but you could use only 3 at a time. Finally the consumables give you stat boosts for each run but once you die, the consumables would be gone and you have to equip new ones. The game is good but challenging later on.
