[Escape] #16 - Study || Zero Time Dilemma (Interactive, 100%)
Part 16 of my interactive 100% playthrough of Zero Time Dilemma on PC.
As we delve into Zero's study and open the various safes, one question remains in our mind the whole time: will any of that help us determine Zero's identity?
Here are some explanations for the puzzles found in the room:
—— The Moon & Sun Safes ——
The moon safe can be found upstairs, while the sun safe is found to the left of the fireplace. To open them, you'll need to find the proper code. To solve this, you'll need the "Moon Card" file, found in the star safe, and the "Polovtsian Secret 1" file, which can be found upstairs.
The whole gimmick of this room revolves around these Polovtsian figures. Each posture has a meaning, and understanding that is the key to most of the puzzles in here. On top of the moon safe, you'll find one of these figures. According to the file, the position it's in means "Confirm". Additionally, the moon card says "NIL". So, that would mean that the password for the moon safe is "NIL". Entering that word on the safe will indeed open it.
In that safe you'll find the "Sun Card" file, which is exactly the same as the "Moon Card", except it features a sun this time. However, according to the files we found, the figure on top of that safe means "Deny". That would mean we should enter the opposite word for NIL, right? According to the same file, the opposite for NIL would be EXIST. Using that word on the safe will indeed open it and allow you to activate the electronic chair.
—— The Birdman Cryptex ——
This puzzle can be started by interacting with the cryptex on the chair. To solve the puzzle, you'll need the "Polovtsian Secret 2", which can be found by entering Note 1's combination on the electronic chair, and the "Birdman Card", which lies inside the human safe.
If you try entering the combination written on the Birdman Card into the cryptex, you'll quickly notice it doesn't work. So how to decipher the code? Well, if you look on the desk, you'll see four figures in strange poses. According to the files, these poses mean you have to shift down by a certain value a code. In this case it would be the four letters for the cryptex. The Grass Dance pose (right arm upwards) means "Add 3", the Sand Dance (left arm upwards) means "Add 5", and the Wind Dance pose (left arm straight) means "Add 7". All you have to do now is take the four letters of the cryptex code and shift them by the appropriate values, according to the poses the figures on the desk have. The one thing to remember is that when you reach the end of the alphabet, you need to do a loop and continue at the beginning of it. So A would come after Z and so forth. Entering the word you come up with in the cryptex should open it. Simply be sure the letters you want to input are on the line with the arrows on the side.
—— The Nine Pictures ——
This puzzle can be found above the fireplace. To start it, you'll need the crossbow, found in the moon safe, the gun, found in the human safe, and "Note 2", found in the birdman cryptex.
This puzzle is pretty simple. Simply use the appropriate weapon to "kill" the teams as the note suggest. Since the text for D-team is strikethroughed, you can ignore that line. I don't think I need to tell you this, but "Arrow to Q-Team" would mean to use the crossbow on the three in Q-Team, and "Bullet to C-Team" would mean to use the gun on C-Team's members. Doing so will let the middle frame slide, revealing a hidden safe containing a grenade launcher.
—— The Mystery of Note 3 ——
This puzzle can be found once you've claimed the contents of the flower safe.
You'll quickly find out that entering the code featured in the "Note 3" file on the electronic chair will result in an error. What to do then? Well, remember that inside the same safe where you found the note there was also three of these figures? All three of them are in the Wind pose, meaning to add 7 to a code. In this case, it would be the code on "Note 3". What you have to do is to simply take the three section of the code individually and add 7 to each of them. Entering the resulting code on the chair will net you a blueprint about how to build a key with all those device parts you found.
