[Escape] #22 - Trash Disposal Room || Zero Time Dilemma (Interactive, 100%)
Part 22 of my interactive 100% playthrough of Zero Time Dilemma on PC.
Now THIS is messed up! Phi's inside an incinerator that's about to start up, while Diana and Sigma freak out outside, trying to find a way to release her from her impending doom. Well, I hope Phi honed her Sudoku skills before coming at Dcom...
Here are some explanations about the puzzles found in this room:
—— The Console's Sliders ——
You can start this puzzle by examining the three sliders on the far right of the incinerator console. To solve the puzzle, you'll need the googles, which can be found inside the locker.
Each slider represents a letter, which can be seen on top of it. The sliders can be slid up or down to change the active letter. But what are the letters we need? Well, if you have the goggles as your active item, you'll be able to use them and see holograms at various points in the room. One of those is on the poster on the left side of the room: the letters TIC will be put in evidence. That's the clue we needed. Simply enter these letters in order on the sliders to allow Phi to search her part of the room.
—— Calculating Weights ——
You can start this puzzle by examining the dust chute on the backside of the room, near the locker. To complete this puzzle, you'll need to have access to Phi's side of the room.
If you look at the chute with the goggles, you'll see a hologram of a screwdriver and two screws. What does that even mean? Well, on Phi's side of the room, you'll find a screwdriver and a weight station. You'll also find a plaque that you can unscrew with the screwdriver you just found. Under it is written "188 pounds", and you'll also keep the screws. What you have to do is simply calculate the weights of the screwdriver and the two screws. Once that's done, you can return to the main room, add the weights together and input the answer on the chute. Doing so will unlock it and allow you to transfer items to Phi.
—— The Messy Toolbox ——
You can start this puzzle by examining the toolbox after unlocking it with Phi's screwdriver. You'll be greeted by a 10X8 grid with blue Xs on it. Your goal is to make all seven tools fit inside the grid, while being sure all red X on the tools are on top of a blue X. Since there are exactly seven blue X, that means each tool can be on top of only one X. That bit of information will help you a great deal to reduce the number of possible arrangements.
It's mostly trial and error here, but the best tip I can give you is to start with the big shapes. Since they're big, they have less possible areas they can fit in, meaning they're easier to place on the grid. Don't worry about leaving empty space on the grid; as long as all the Xs are used and all tools fit correctly on the grid, your answer is correct. Completing this puzzle will net you the "Note" file.
—— Heating Things Up ——
This is not really a puzzle, but that part of the escape requires a bit of thinking.
After solving the toolbox puzzle, you'll receive the "Note" file, which tells you to "Max out the needle". The note is referring to the temperature gauge, which can be found on the incinerator console, next to the sliders used for the first puzzle. That gauge is actually linked to the thermometer next to the weight station on Phi's side. What would you need to do then to "max out the needle" of a thermomether, then? Increase the temperature, right? To do that, simply transfer the gas torch to Phi's side through the dust chute, and then use it on the thermometer. Doing so will indeed "max out the needle" on the console, releasing the coin that was stuck at the base of the gauge.
