[Eschatos/エスカトス] Advanced Normal ALL CLEAR (Score: 26,035,505)
If you want to get more rage from playing Eschatos, I recommend you the Advanced mode.
Advanced mode has a power up system and a more lenient scoring system. The scoring system is simply don't miss enemies, 100% clear them, and keep your multiplier high. No need to speed kill and you're good to go. I prefer Advanced mode's scoring system.
The main difference is the power up system. The higher your power, the wider and longer your shots will be, but it will decrease your maximum shield power.
Emphasis on wider and longer. Powering up DOES NOT INCREASE DPS.
No matter how weak you are, the forward shot, still your main DPS attack, will have the same DPS as in the Original mode. Which is, a good thing when the game will question you everytime should you power up to make use of the souped up wide shot, which on max power will practically cover the entire screen despite still having weak DPS, which is the condition you want both for safety against popcorn enemies and scoring, or should you power down and be defensive. On max power your shield max will be as low as 30! Sounds shocking, but having your shield as low as this is actually more viable than one will think. Most of the bullets are evadeable, so in this mode you get to appreciate the game's stage design more. Streaming, quick killing, all the fancy techniques! When there are items flying around shielding will also make them spin around you and deal damage. Those won't protect you from bullets, though! But well, when there are popcorn enemies these are useful. There is that. And it will conserve some of your shield energy since your shield doesn't get damaged, so going max power is encouraged.
For the enemy patterns, no, no obvious changes. So what you've learned in Original mode will mostly apply in Advanced mode.
The ideal power level to have is around 5, where you can go up to level 6 where you get both high score multiplier and a very long wide shot. You'll need it a lot to survive, more than the shield! Later stages, though, you'll need 4 - 5 because obviously you'll need the shield. And having 50 shield is pretty ideal to survive.
Because the optimal condition is at 50% the shield power off Original mode this makes Advanced mode the de facto harder mode. This both emphasizes the greatness and the awfulness of Eschatos' stage design simultaneously. The game gets tighter since especially for DPS reasons you wouldn't want to use the shield. Otherwise when the enemy lives long enough to make you use the shield you may not have enough!
I both love and hate this mode more than the Original mode, and generally more enjoyable! It's not for the faint of heart, though. Best to learn several techniques first via the Original mode!
