Cardinal Sins is a pleasant mini-game centric shmup. Until you suddenly encounter the true last boss and shoots you stuff that you've never encountered before.
For the initial phase the game will test you based on the 7 cardinal sins. Shoot stuff, grab and not destroy the item, shoot stuff but not too quickly, shoot stuff quickly, shoot stuff, cancel bullets and don't get hit. These are easy peasy and mainly for scoring. Pretty fun and risk-free. Your lives get reloaded for each stage, after all.
But the last stage is mean. You don't know why you can get or not get the 1ups, then the final pattern is locked on Normal only, by the way Trial doesn't have any tangible difference outside the locked final pattern and showing how much time is left. The final boss is in general fine, until you get thrown spinning poles, get barraged with invisible bullet sources while the game is all monochrome, and you must stay still on the very final pattern while you and the final boss turn totally black. Really, really mean!
I heard this game was originally a Wonderswan game. Considering the slowdowns, I think this PC port is emulated. You don't get to see emulated Wonderswan games that can be bought these days!
