Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Gone Bye Bye part 4
Welcome to SimuSquad to another retro adventure through Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. We are in part 4 of our run and, boy, is this a great game. It is a bit cursed being as we can almost never get the game to load the first time. That's why we don't get to hear the Gamecube's beautiful start up sounds. This stream is longer than usual because of a puzzle you will hear about later. We also have a much more active chat than usual. This episode gets two chapters, so let's jump on in!
The first part is Chapter 7, "Heresy." In this chapter, we take control of a new character named, Paul Luther. He is a member of the cloth who is visiting this cathedral to see a religious artifact. Unfortunately, the Inquisition is there because whoever expects the Spanish Inquisition? We are told by the Bishop Paul Augustine that there have been reports of witchcraft in the area, and to be careful. Not long after we are allowed to move by ourselves, we find a murdered priest, and are, of course, told that we are the main suspect and not to leave town. We are then locked into a room to await interrogation. It doesn't last long though. A new ally appears to release us, and send us off to find evidence of evil that we can use to clear our name. We are sent to find pages of a journal that were written by another missing member of the cloth. As we explore the cathedral, we kill monsters and notice that a lot of it looks very familiar. We run into a familiar character as we find parts of the building we haven't seen in a few hundred years. We also figure out that the whole religious artifact story was just to bait a trap for sacrifices. Not long after we find this information, we see our character's end. Then we return to the mansion to find the next chapter page.
Once we return to the mansion, we find a piano that allows us to play a little bit of music that had been played by Brother Luther. Once we play the song, we found the chapter page for Chapter 8, "The Forbidden City." In this chapter, we play the architect, Roberto Bianchi who has been forced to serve a warlord in a iron mask. We are forced to inspect underground ruins to find out if the ground is suitable to build a large monument on. At first, it is not the most complicated mission as we only have to do, but it goes sideways quickly. We start to come across many monsters as we had to kill as we get further and further into the underground temple. It is a relatively simple level, but we do get a new spell circle and take the time to figure out all the new spells that we can create with the five point star. We do come across a puzzle that takes forever to figure out. I even had to look up the solution and felt dumb. Not long after, we discover the end of the level. Once, we reappear in the mansion, we quickly found the next page for next week!
