Hello everyone and welcome to Music Theory with GUIM! In this installment we take a look at Gabriel Faure's Sicilienne which is a beautiful piece for both Piano and Cello. This is one of the first pieces I heard by Faure along with Pavane, so I am certainly excited to share some of my thoughts on it!

We'll be looking at harmony stemming from the Dorian Mode as well as other chromatic resources that work in conjunction to form a sound that is both tonal and modal.
