Exploring the Blackwater Mine had been on my list for a couple summers now. Finally got to check out the site this past weekend. The three tunnels I explored were all interesting in their own way. Tunnel 3 in the video was the largest and most scenic, and it seemed to be the main workings for the Blackwater Mine. It was around 700 feet long and passed through various strata of rock. The tunnel reportedly went further but was blocked by a substantial collapse. The other two tunnels onsite were much shorter. Tunnel 2 had an unusual ore bin outside its entrance, and Tunnel 1 appeared to have been set up so that a miner could live comfortably inside it during the winter months as he worked his claim.
