Explosionade - PC - Intro & Gameplay stages 1-14 with first boss [UHD 4K60]
Explosionade was one of the many indie titles available on the XBLIG service for Xbox 360. Now that the service has closed you can still purchase it on Steam. This is very much an old school single screen arcade game mixed in with modern run and gun twin stick gameplay. Think Bubble Bobble meets Contra/Metal Slug and you have a good idea of what Explosionade is all about, only with with added mechs.
In fact it's good, it's really good, as you blast your way through each stage. It's got a great scoring system to, that allows you to play for either speed or damage. As the time bonus is only awarded for finishing each stage in under 30 seconds or you can go for the all clear bonus and kill everything on screen, no doubt the best players will aim to do both.
Play on your own or with a friend and with three level of difficulty, this title is ideal for players of all skill levels. At £2.79 it a great price for a great title and one fans of titles like Metal Slug will enjoy. Only slight complaint is the story is rather bland and unneeded, it also gets in the way of the gameplay in a few missions. There's no way to turn it off and the comedy side to it really doesn't work for us. Might have worked better if they played out in real time or with voice actors.
