Riven: The Sequel to Myst - Sega Saturn - Intro & opening 10 minutes of gameplay [4K60]
A short look at the start of the Saturn version of Riven the follow up to the hugely successful Myst. Cyan Worlds sort to make a game even more impressive that the original and they succeeded in making a sequels that was a feast for the senses. Improving upon the original in every aspect of the game. Riven is a huge open world adventure with multiple connecting Islands, that appeared on PC & Mac in 1997. Coming on 5 CDs on PC and 4 for the Saturn version, there was a lot to explore. Riven's only real fault, was the complexity of some of the puzzles being a lot more complex than the first game, requiring exploring all the islands to solve, which may have been a bit to taxing for many.
As with Myst the Saturn version is a very good port, but just like Myst the quality of the art take a hit due to using a lower resolution on Saturn. Compared to the high resolution mode that can be used on PC. The Sega Saturn version included support for the Shuttle Mouse and wasn't released in North America. As the footage used in this video was intended to be part of a larger video, the gameplay is a bit limited. Keep in mind that there is a lot of disc swapping in Riven just like the PC version. Oh and as some of you may have guessed this is indeed the name our editor takes his Randomised Gaming name from.
