Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed - Sega Saturn - Intro & Gameplay [4K60]
It's fair to say the Need for Speed series has had ups and downs. The original remains one of the best in the series and is as much a racer as it is a cruising game. You can pick to either race it out in a tournament, go head to head in a one on one race or hit the road in a time trial. Topped off with a disco / rock and roll sound track that perfectly catches the driving feel of the game and is vastly better than all the random hit parade songs used in most modern driving games.
Added to that is an in depth look at each of the cars in game with commentary on each car and videos of the real car in action. The original game tied itself in with the Road & Track magazine and first released on the 3D0, before being ported to various home systems. The PC Special Edition version being the final release of the original game.
This video shows the PAL version of Need for Speed on Sega Saturn the Japanese version, was released later and featured analogue control support it was also renamed Nissan Presents: Over Drivin' GT-R and only included Nissan cars. As Randomised Gaming has both versions we will cover them in a comparison at some point. Worth also noting that the head to head mode in Over Drivin' GT-R lacks traffic and police cars on open road tracks, which are present in the PAL release shown here.
