Factorio Tutorial #11 - Military science packs
147In this episode we set up production of military science packs. These packs are a fairly heavy consumer of iron, so if you haven't already finished setting up all of your iron production, you might want to do so first. Also note that military science packs are produced in pairs, so we only need half as many production buildings as we would otherwise.
I set this up with one extra grenade assembler than what is strictly needed for the build, so that we can accumulate the extra grenades in a chest, and use them for quick deforestation. If you are playing with alien based turned on, then this is also a good opportunity to collect piercing rounds and gun turrets for base defense - just add a few extra production buildings for those, so that you can keep up with 45/min science packs while producing extra ammo and turrets.
This is a tutorial let's-play series in Factorio version 0.15. This series is aimed towards newer players, or those who have been away from the game for a while. I will spend more than the usual amount of time explaining what I'm doing and why. The goal of this playthrough is to get to a fairly quick single rocket launch. I am playing without mods, and enemy bases are set to "None" (no biters) to put the focus on base-building.
