Based on the 1996 Sega light gun arcade classic.
This one is rife for a remake!
--
The music is the original House of the Dead 2 theme. This one to me is the most iconic of the series.
The dialogue is actually from the game The Suffering, but it fit with Dr. Curien's attitude from the first game.
--
The movies I used are: Dredd, Winter of the Dead (Russian), House of the Dead, Crawlspace, Adam Chaplin, Altered, Zombie Massacre, The Frankenstein Syndrome, Greystone Park, The Woman in Black, Rec 3 Genesis, Ozombie, Mimic, Underworld Evolution, The Amazing Spiderman, Monster Brawl, Return to House on Haunted Hill, Species 3, Rammbock Berlin Undead, Ghosts of Mars, The Devil's Playground, Amphibious Creatures of the Deep, Universal Soldier Reckoning Day, Resident Evil Retribution, Exit Humanity, and Dead Shadows.
--
House of the Dead wasn't just blasting zombies. There was not only a story in the first arcade game, but a mythos which went on to create three sequels and a reboot. The reboot was grindhouse style camp, but personally the spine-tingling earnestness of the original game I found the most arresting.
--
You play as a team of agents sent to investigate a distress call from the fiance of one of their number. Upon arriving at the ancestral mansion of a noted biochemist both discover zombified beasts running amok alongside mutated freaks of nature. All of this plays into a conspiracy by the reclusive Dr. Roy Curien who is trying to design an ultimate being to rule over mankind which he believes has suffered from the weight of its sins long enough. Between the agents and their girl is an army of ghouls and powerful bosses, each named after cards in the Tarot such as Strength, The Hermit and the sinister Magician.
--
Although the second game is infamous for its lousy voice acting, the first didn't suffer from that problem so much. Roy Curien, the mad scientist who creates the undead plague had quite a menacing voice and the heroes Thomas Rogan and Agent G had appropriately grim monotones.
