Witchaven was a 1995 gothic first person melee/spell casting game which put the player in the boots of Grondoval, a questing knight seeking to destroy the witch Illwhyrin before her dark rituals broke open the hellish Veil and unleashed the unspeakable creatures beyond to conquer the world. It was notable mostly for having a Doom-Like perspective and systems, but relying on swords/axes/and bows as much as flinging hexes and combat was against goblins, demonic knights, the undead and of course Illwhyrin herself.Movies like Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters seem to treat witch-battling as comedy fuel. I'd personally prefer something more sober and dark as the original Witchaven attempted.
