Far cry 5 Linux benchmark [steam play proton] - VKBasalt
Far Cry 5 with Steam Play Proton (5.0-10), the Linux compatibility layer from Valve.
Far Cry 5 best settings for stable FPS on a GTX970
Please note that the benchmark is running at 90% resolution with custom settings (see at end of video) for a near 60fps experience on a GTX 970. The image is then enhanced via Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening to avoid blurred image (via VKBASALT.)
WHY 90% of 1080p?
The game is rendered at 90% that means 1821x1024 (1920x1080x0.9 gives 90% of the total pixels, then keeping the aspect ratio constant will get you a resolution of 1821x1024)
It boost the frame rate of the game allowing a near 60fps experience but shown in 1080p it makes the game looks a bit blurry ...
That's why we use VKBasalt to enhance the image via Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening.
The image is enhanced using VKBasalt CAS at value 0.8
CAS meaning Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening the equivalent of AMD fidelity FX algorithm.
The game is running on a I7 3770 + GTX 970 (see "PC CONFIGURATION" and
"GRAPHIC SETTINGS" below for details).
Note that this video is recorded with a cheap capture card .. The video image is not the highest quality but there is no frame loss during recording.
