0Well, here's the big reveal, which probably isn't so big at this stage in this long-running project. Edelgard was the Flame Emperor all along, and now she's the Adrestian Emperor too. She's brought some soldiers to steal Crest Stones, we have to stop her, blah blah blah, you know this by now.
But what's different this time is the ending. By witnessing Edelgard's ascension to the throne, you're given a choice: Kill Edelgard, or protect her. Choose to kill her, and you end up on the Silver Snow path. Protect her, and you lock yourself in on the Crimson Flower path.
All that love Rhea had for you evaporates in an instant; suddenly you're "another failure" and she's gonna rip out your heart and take it back herself, which, now that I've played all the other routes, means a lot more than it did when I first played! She also reveals herself as The Immaculate One, and Edelgard says she's been controlling all of Fódlan all this time.
And, hey, it's not like the Church has never given you a reason to distrust them, right? Rhea in particular is pretty quick to decide that someone's a heretic and should be executed. Jeralt was always wary of her, too. Edelgard may have a point in all this.
There's more I could say about turning against the Church, but I'll save it.
