FE3H: Loop 4 (CF) Chapter 13 -- Monastery
So, here we are, beginning the Crimson Flower route in earnest. This route is shorter than the others, and it turns out this is immediately obvious because we don't have a reunion battle where we clear out the town of thieves, nor do we have a battle where we officially reclaim Garreg Mach.
In the other routes, it felt like whoever we joined up with was on their last legs. The Knights of Seiros hadn't found Rhea after five years, Faerghus was in shambles, Leicester had internal strife and the Empire breathing down their necks... This time, though, it's more like a stalemate.
After their defeat five years ago, Rhea and the Knights of Seiros withdrew to Fhirdiad and have since begun cooperating with Dimitri and the Kingdom. Together, they've been able to stop the Empire's advances. Meanwhile, Claude has kept the Alliance neutral by stoking internal conflict and negotiating a truce between the two sides.
But hey! Now that dear old Professor Baeleth has resurfaced, we can finally tip the scales! (Wait, wrong avatar character.) Before we do that, let's check out how the old haunt is holding up.
So, these segments are probably gonna stay pretty long because, well, I gotta talk to everyone to get their take on the situation. I've come this far, I can't start skipping that now, can I? Plus, Jeritza makes his return! He's exclusive to this route, but he was added in the big post-launch update that came out at the same time as the Cindered Shadows DLC. I don't know if that was the plan all along, but people were like, "Hey, since Jeritza is the Death Knight and he's working with the Empire, why isn't he playable?" so they made him playable.
The other important thing: Abyss has a couple of new facilities available! The first and far more important one is the Wayseer. This basically gives you the ability to spend your Renown on building up support points between any two compatible units. It's 500 points per use, and it generally goes like: 1 use will get a pair from 0 to C, 2 more uses will get them from C to B, and 3 more on top of that gets them from B to A. (Admittedly, I don't know what happens when there's a Plus conversation. Maybe an extra use?) The other thing, which I couldn't demonstrate because no one is eligible yet, is that you can "intertwine fates." You can pick any A-rank pairing you have and guarantee that they'll end up together in the epilogue! I'll show it off when I can, but you can also get a good look at what the other likely pairings will be. The catch is, it costs 10,000 Renown to do that, and you're only allowed to have one guaranteed pairing; trying to do a second one will just overwrite the first.
The second new facility is much less important. So unimportant, I didn't even bother. It's an expansion of content in the Shadow Library, which gives you more lore that, frankly, I'm not interested in.
