FE3H: Loop 4 (CF) Chapter 13 -- Beyond Escape
0Featuring almost 10 minutes of me looking at where my units are after the timeskip and deciding what to do with them, even though I won't be using them much, if at all!
Fun fact: in the speedrun, one key trick is to have the professor do all the fighting in Part 1 and keep the house leader at level 1. When you get to Part 2, the leader will automatically be level 20 in their new lord class, and the way the game calculates that is by first doing the class change, which sets all their stats to a new minimum, and then gives them 19 level-ups on top of that. Doesn't seem to work quite as well with other students, who don't get class changes, but in the speedrun, you kill them off anyway because more units to use means more time per turn.
Anyway, about the battle itself!
This should be a rather familiar map by now: the Great Bridge of Myrddin. This time around, though, we're starting on the southwest end of the bridge instead of the northeast end, and our target is sitting in the central fort instead of the far end. No mechs to fight, either.
There are reinforcements that appear, and in the same places as the other versions of this battle, so I guess you're always at risk of getting enemies at your rear. Acheron will appear at the far end, and Lorenz (or his substitute) will appear near your starting location. Turns out, though, that if you take out (fake) Lorenz, Acheron will leave immediately, so, you know, good work, buddy.
The boss, Judith, will only stick around as long as it takes for those reinforcements to show up, which might be until she's attacked. After that, she'll try to leave through the far end, and you lose if you let that happen, so, you know, don't do that.
Once she's defeated, the battle is over, and House Daphnel is as good as gone. By the way, if you haven't recruited Lorenz by this point, now's your last chance. Beat him during the battle, and you can choose to spare him and let him join up. I've made my feelings on him pretty clear, he kinda sucks in a lot of ways at the best of times, but you do you.
