FFT Allowing Dycedarg’s/Adrammelech’s Friendly Fire Tactics ft. Meliadoul and Arcane Strength Ultima
Figured I’d allow a very slow stress test to show how much the lack of speed is what prevents these bosses from being formidable. No idea why Dycedarg kills all his own guys, transports Zalbaag to a fate worse than death (Karma for that lame regular attack not hitting Dycedarg when he was the main target), and lets slow gameplay mechanics (see AT grid where 5:50 Ramza goes twice) after he transforms.
Meliadoul has a buff in FFT war of the lions to hit unarmed opponents without equipment to break (and you should teleport steal the chantage to be immortal outside of petrify). Dycedarg’s defender needs parry to weapon block, which was a stupid idea, like giving him sticky fingers that only catches ninja thrown items.
I failed a lot with weaker setup (no OP teleport, dual wield, manafont with mana shield, auto potion, dark knight nor math skill) because he would run away or hit me with hallowed bolt 3:30 to silence Ultima Midcast (yet it won’t stop holy sword nor non speechcraft/direct spells). Mind flayer wouldn't help as bosses are immune to berserk and confuse (but not sleep as the argath battle showed though lucavi can be hit by stall and slow but not useless Mustadio's arm shot to disable)
Petrify by Adrammelech was a pain too, especially when I gave Ramza magic counter to cast holy back, which was useless. Black chocobo was too slow to use here, so most difficulty is from being outsped (guessing the wrong crossbow height as sword skills don't care) or not using a broken build (like Ch 1 Dorter without hesitation or a female thief to steal heart of the mage or sniper). This is a nice what if Adrammelech could have a turn.
I had to do a lot to buff Ultima (Ramza's equipment including aegis shield all buff magic attack as well as arcane strength) though I didn’t maximize faith (that and low magic attack is why Luso’s version is weaker, though he can learn chapter 3 unlike Ramza if by low chance Elmdor’s assassins hit you with it instead of one shotting you in yet another speed battle).
Archer Luso was buffed by attack boost, power garb, and bracer though I could trade speed for a headband for a bit more damage though it honestly still can't compete with dual wield or using knight swords. Since using a regular bow will do more damage with speed boost too (but crossbow reaches uphill if there is a line of sight, being better for this battle, oddly enough), Shout with both Ramza and Luso does help a ton more than tailwind even if it is only themselves.
Ramza also won't go with God as the protagonist, as 100 faith units can leavein yet another stupid cryptic mechanic for this game, similar to bravery buffing monks, reaction abilities and steal success rates, with Beowulf/orators making manipulation games). Then you can cast from game hunter Luso to Squire Ramza to learn in chapter 4, when he has shout.
I did want to show the crossbow setup with attack boost (which goes out of range so often to be a joke) and arcane strength makes almost anything work better (geomancy, doom fist, speechcraft and obviously magic with playable Ultima even with charge times). Lambent hat buffs magic and is only a +1 speed boost compared to thief hat's speed +2, to make heavy armor units like knights obsolete. Surprisingly, Meliadoul can equip a power garb that knights can't do, but not those hats. Orlandeau can equip both to be even more overpowered than his haste Excalibur.
Vid is that invincible look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power meme given other bosses have minions except understandably the first lucavi, cuchulainn. Similarly, default Agrias and Ultima have shortcomings to better spells (holy, invigoration to 4 shot lucavi if 2 shot graviga misses, quick and odin if you don't want instant iaido) and sword skills without save scumming to learn.
This vid also shows that swiftness is a liability (turn 1 Dycedarg's turn is too fast for non instant spells and ultima is decent at 20 speed) unless you need to use cloud without a finish touch build, or go with the crazy single straight class time mage challenge (with halve mp for summoners). Easier to run away and use holy.
I do feel it’s great to end my posting on YouTube (I feel spiderman 2 lost credibility though some showed the truth) with this vid as it shows the suicidal AI of Adrammelech running into Luso’s crossbow, similar to how a vid someone made has Gaffgarion run away from Ramza to die instead of draining hp to win. https://youtu.be/ubpWAZ1dagk?si=FUvCqyECR8GwfLs6
