I believe I've already said that I've been really enjoying playing Fast Fourier Transform lately and have been looking for different ways for making my experience new and fun. So here's another run I started recently. I wouldn't exactly call it a challenge in the sense that is usually derived from the challenges showcased on my channel, mostly a themed run - because there are too many ways how you can overpower the opposition here and much freedom in that regard - but since I find myself restarting the maps often enough to figure out neat ways to wallop the enemies and interesting combos and strats, I think the word 'challenge' isn't entirely misapplied here either.

So what is this Mime Run? It's not a Mime solo (don't think this one's even possible) or a full party of Mimes; rather, I've chosen such a team that would be optimal for the Mime class to show what it's capable of - Ramza and another generic + two Mimes named Butz and Gogo, obvious references to classic FF mime characters (Butz because of his Dissidia role I guess). Since I will eventually come to a point where I have a fifth deployment slot in storyline maps, I will add another character to my party - not sure if it should be a 3rd Mime or another generic.

The goal of this playthrough will be to come up with different nifty tactics and strats involving the two Mimes and Ramza/generics, and since I'm not limiting myself to mandatory battles only I'll unlock some out-of-the-way classes like Samurai this time around. If you're like me and you don't like grinding and would rather start a new playthrough then stick around for the postgame, then you might find yourself with little experience using the Mime - the requirements for unlocking the class make it difficult to get without some heavy grinding (who seriously stays a Squire until job lv. 8 or Mediator until job lv. 5), probably impossible for players who aim to go fast with Wizards, Monks and Ninja. Mimes can be unlocked naturally w/o overlevelling through spillover JP, but that tedium would take days to achieve so I used a save editor to just change two of my characters into Mimes - changes nothing.

Mimes, as you probably know, have some serious drawbacks:
- unable to equip any weapons, armour or accessories. This means Mime may lose to other characters in HP (they compensate for this somewhat with their huge class HP growth), or PA/MA due to not being able to equip armour/headset that boost it (but the growths are also really good). No elemental protection or avoid besides the class +5 avo from the front.
- unable to equip any skills. This means Mimes are limited to mimicking others for what they do. They can't get reaction or passive skills like Counter or Two Swords, or movement skills like Move +2/3, so they're stuck with 4 move/4 jump (which isn't entirely bad though). However, Mimes do have THREE innate passives - Martial Arts, Concentrate and Monster Skill (latter useless in the context of this run).

Mimes basically just mirror the allied units' actions in relation to their own facing, and do it instantaneously without any charge time. They cannot mimic non-generic abilities so guests with unique classes will be reclassed to generic classes so that mimicry is the focus of the playthrough.

Now, there are several ways to break the game in half - such as by using certain Summoner, Bard and Dancer abilities and really destroying the opposition. Because they exist, it doesn't mean they should be used, and I will try to switch between classes to come up and showcase different strategies. Math Skill will be out of course, much like it should be in any run where you want to have some fun.

The first video shows the first storyline battles up until Sand Rat Cellar. I do not enter many random battles to learn some skills and unlock better jobs yet, taking it easy with Squires first to get the hang of it first. I introduce Archer Ramza for Dorter and also find out that excessive use of Accumulate makes Mimes pack a huge wallop when hitting stuff (PA is especially critical for barefisted attacks, with good Brave). For SRC, I make Ramza a Wizard and try more complex miming of charged spells.

This should be a fun run and if anyone has any advice or wishes as to what they want to see shown, I'm all ears. The goal is to try out all kinds of strategies.
