Ramza confronts Gafgarion for the last time, this time in what is an almost one-on-one battle. "Almost" because the Summoner can reach both Ramza with any of its offensive abilities, unless he's on the edge of the map, and can also heal Gafgarion with Moogle and white magic from behind the wall. The former can be avoided by moving away from the gate on every turn, the latter may or may not happen depending on what abilities the Summoner happens to bring and whether we manage to kill Gafgarion quickly enough, if at all.
Pisces Ramza and Gafgarion have the worst Zodiac compatibility, meaning their damage against each other is halved. Ramza, being an Oracle, also has Defense UP making Gafgarion's attacks deal noticeably less damage. The only advantage Gaf has over Ramza in this duel is 100% accuracy of Night Sword and its HP-draining effect.
And even that can be fixed by having Ramza cast Zombie on himself, which means HP draining will have the reverse effect if attempted (but it won't be).
The rest of the duel depends on Ramza's accuracy with frontal/side attacks with a stick, to an extent his accuracy with connecting Zombie (I missed 6 times in a row once...) and also whether the Summoner starts supporting Gaf from behind the wall.
Now, for the second part of the battle Ramza will want to use the crystal to fully recover (at this point it's so easy to be struck by a summon so I cast Doubt Faith to get Innocent status) and he'll cast Doubt Faith again before opening the gate.
The enemies will all attack; however, everybody besides the Summoner has lightning-elemental weapons, and we null that with Rubber Shoes. Things like Monk techs, Throw Stone etc. still deal damage, but what most enemies will probably try to do is break all Ramza's stuff. The shoes can't be broken though, so he's relatively safe unless somebody knows Potion or, far far worse, Phoenix Down, which results in a quick gameover.
Luckily, not a single person on this attempt brought Item, so I focused on the Summoner while still under the effect of Innocent. The rest of the battle went fairly well. Even with my stick broken, 99 Faith (after Pray Faith) and Petrify/Life Drain takes care of the enemies, so the worst breaks here are probably Speed and Mind, and we can totally beat the map without Mind. Wizard Robe and Green Beret are both replaceable, so I didn't have to fret about it.
And now we advance to our first Lucavi battle.
